McDonald Carano Welcomes A.G. Burnett, Nevada Gaming Control Board Chair, as Partner in the Gaming & Administrative Law Group

Las Vegas, NV — December 11, 2017 — McDonald Carano announced today that A.G. Burnett, currently Chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) and Member of the Governor’s Gaming Policy Committee, will join the Firm’s Gaming & Administrative Law Group as a Partner effective January 1, 2018. The addition of Mr. Burnett continues a longstanding tradition at McDonald Carano of providing our clients with access to lawyers with real working experience in gaming regulatory roles, including A.J. “Bud” Hicks, Greg Giordano and Dennis Gutwald.

Mr. Burnett has held numerous important positions within Nevada’s regulatory agencies in addition to his most recent service as Chairman of the NGCB. He was appointed as Chairman of the NGCB by Governor Brian Sandoval in October 2012 and following his earlier appointment to the NGCB by Governor Gibbons in 2011. He previously served as Deputy Chief of the Corporate Securities Division for the NGCB, working with publicly traded companies having gaming properties and interests in Nevada. Prior to his work with the NGCB, he served as Senior Deputy Attorney General in the Gaming Division of the Nevada Attorney General’s Office representing the NGCB, the Nevada Gaming Commission, and the Nevada Commission on Sports on legal matters affecting these agencies. From 2012 to 2015, he also served as an officer for the International Association of Gaming Regulators.

Mr. Burnett serves on the William S. Boyd School of Law Gaming Law Advisory Board and served on the Executive Committee of the State Bar of Nevada’s Gaming Law Section from 2000-2006, as well as the Bar’s Functional Equivalency Committee from 2001-2005. He earned his J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law in 1996, and his B.A. in International Affairs and Political Science from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1992. He is a member of the Nevada State Bar, and is licensed to practice before all Nevada and federal courts.
